Zip Fairies

Zip Fairies don’t like compromises. Their flimsy blue wings are determined.

He sleeps, broad lovely lips slightly open above tousled beard. Big nostrils. Black hair disobedient across forehead. Thin fingers trembling, remembering something.

Fairies standing on top of steel railings in the departure lounge, flimsy blue and unseen.

Knowing everything, they zip up his heart to stop the tears.
